Rebel Wilson Reveals She Got to ‘Audition for Bond’ After BAFTAs Gig

Early auditions for the next film Bond 26 have apparently started taking place according to Rebel Wilson who spoke in a new interview with Variety.
The Australian actress and comedian hosted the BAFTAs on 13 March 2022 at the Royal Albert Hall in London, where she had prepared a few jokes related to Bond. This prompted her to reach out to producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson to get their approval ahead of the awards show.
This placed Rebel Wilson in direct contact with the producers who not only greenlit her speech but ultimately gave her a casting opportunity. Wilson told Variety “what was really cool was getting to audition for Bond.” Variety clarified that it was not for the role of James Bond but rather for an undisclosed character. Unsurprisingly, the actress did not reveal whether she landed the role.
What is known however is that the audition took place last year, so between March–December 2022. Interestingly, Wilson had revealed during the BAFTAs that she had bought a property in London and planned to move in soon to shoot a TV series. She was later spotted in September 2022 at the BFI Luminous Fundraising Gala at the Londoner Hotel.
Currently Rebel Wilson has three projects in pre-production, one in post and another that she is currently filming. With Bond 26 so far away it’s impossible to say if there would be any scheduling conflicts that would prevent her from starring in the film.
